For our summer vacation, Yaa and I spent five days in the Black Hills<\/a> for a family reunion. This was Yaa’s first time ever in that part of the country, and my first time in the last fifteen years<\/em>, so it was quite an experience for both of us. Most of our time was spent in a fantastic two-story cabin in the middle of the woods that my parents had recently purchased.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

From this \u00e2\u20ac\u0153base camp,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d we journeyed to Mount Rushmore<\/a>, Crazy Horse<\/a>, and a number of tourist traps in Hill City.<\/p>\n

\"Mount<\/a><\/p>\n

We spent one of our days at Sylvan Lake<\/a>, where we hiked and rented a couple of paddleboats.<\/p>\n

\"Sylvan<\/a><\/p>\n

Later, I climbed Harney Peak<\/a>, where I saw a mountain goat, a rainbow, and the old lookout tower that was used decades ago to watch for forest fires.<\/p>\n

And before the trip was over, Yaa had made a new friend.<\/p>\n
